Obtain a copy of your Windows XP operating system in LiveCD format.
LiveCD's allow to launch an operating system, without having to install them on the hard drive first. This kind of format is usually used in many Linux distributions.
If you want to
have a LiveCD of your Windows XP, then you need a tool like
PE Builder, available for all users, something that can't be said of the utility that
Microsoft provides, known as Windows Preinstallation Environment (
Windows PE).
PE Builder is a complete application that
allows to create a LiveCD version of the operating system, that will be known as
BartPE (
Bart Preinstalled Environment), from the systems installation files that are stored in the hard drive o, if not, by using your Windows installation CD.
But as well as the system files, it includes the
possibility to include other applications that can be of some use. Finally, to build this LiveCD version of our system we can choose between saving it in
ISO format to store it temporarily on the hard drive or burn it directly to a CD from the same application.
Requirements: This
download works on Windows 2000, Windows XP SP1, Windows 2003 and BartPE.
